Boondock Saints the Movie
The Boondock Saints was one of the cult classics of the past century. From the outset had been full of mishaps and complications that eventually led to the the film was released directly to DVD. The film is undoubtedly the greatest cult film success, winning over millions of fans and are becoming very popular in the sense that he managed to make up part of a mainstream type of pop culture for many teens and remains so today.
Manager Troy Duffer wrote the screenplay after witnessing a horrible scene: he came home to find that a woman had died in the room of a dealer drugs across the hall from his apartment. The film itself would be plagued with bad luck. After impressing with his script Miramax, Harvey Weinstein had decided to give a budget of $ 15 million. Everything seemed on track for a major release in theaters.
Then Duffy happened. After repeated discussions with Duffy at the foundry, Miramax dropped the project. Because of these problems, Duffy was forced to find a smaller independent company to finance the film, with a smaller budget and not the model initially expected. However, the movie that made sense was to become a great success, but not as planned, and in more ways than one.
The Boondock Saints release in theaters in 1999, according to Duffy, unfortunately timed. Due to the high recent shootings, Columbine school, the film was reduced and limited to only five screens across America, and even then only for a week. With the help of Blockbuster Video, it was discovered that was popular in their stores, Troy Duffy secure financing to re-release the film in 2006. Because word of mouth, Boondock Saints have won many followers of religion, which some critics might argue is undeserved. The fate of other hard fans have proven to be a success despite the problems monumental is the release front.
With this trend given the bad luck, especially in the development and production of the film, when Duffy announced a sequel to have financial backing in 2002, many would have reason to be skeptical. The 2005 release date was never, and Duffy, left clear later in this occurred because of a dispute with the company in controlling the film rights. 20th Century Fox finally agreed to step in and back to production of the sequel. Finally, it seems that for now, the problems of Duffy and the team could be over. The film has been marked as in post-production, Duffy States and possible release by the end of the year.
